Christopher Knapp graduated with an MBChB medicine degree from the University of Leicester in 1996. He subsequently trained as an Ophthalmologist in the East Midlands becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in 2006. In 2009 Mr Knapp worked for the University of Leicester as a Clinical Lecturer graduating with an MD doctorate.
Mr Knapp has extensive Ophthalmology experience and has been a Consultant Ophthalmologist since 2007. He currently undertakes cataract surgery at both The Lincoln Hospital (Circle) and Lincoln County Hospital. He has a special interest in oculoplastic surgery and treats periocular skin cancers, lid malposition defects and lacrimal problems.
In the NHS Mr Knapp works as a Consultant at the United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust (ULHT) and was recently appointed the Clinical Lead for Ophthalmology. He is also responsible for teaching and training Ophthalmology Trainees in Lincolnshire holding the role of College Tutor. In 2021 he became an Honorary Teacher Practitioner at the University of Lincoln, a role which entails teaching Ophthalmology to undergraduate pre-clinical medical students.
Mr Knapp has extensive research and teaching experience. He has published over 25 scientific papers and case reports, as well as writing two chapters in an Atlas of Surgery. Mr Knapp has presented at both international & national meetings.
